It is beyond a doubt that Rhythm Voyage can say the 2010s were some of the most formative years in music and pushing the art form further then it has gone before. From the ventures taken into new sonic territory to the rise of streaming services that redefined how we listen to music, it is safe to say the previous decade redefined the music landscape and shaped it into what we know today. So, without further ado, (and in no particular order) here is a list of 6 of the most influential albums that all played a part in cementing the 2010s as a decade to be remembered in music history.

    • Though Kanye dropped many iconic albums over these years, this one stands as a landmark in his career and for the decade overall.
  • Lemonade- Beyonce (2016)
    • Coming as a surprise to no one, Beyonce’s hit album paved new roads in her exploration of different themes both lyrically and sonically.
  • 2014 Forest Hills Drive- J. Cole (2014)
    • Going triple platinum with no features, this album solidified Cole as an icon in the rap game.
  • DAMN- Kendrick Lamar (2017)
    • Though some would argue that his other works are better, this album won Kendrick a Pulitzer Price and gave countless decade defining anthems.
  • Red- Taylor Swift (2012)
    • Another artist with multiple albums that could have been on this list, this record played a pivotal part in making Taylor Swift the worldwide superstar she is today.
  • Blonde- Frank Ocean (2016)
    • After the success of his first album Channel Orange, Frank Ocean released this long-awaited R&B masterpiece that cemented him as one of the greats.
